De Dion-Bouton Quadricycle

In 1882, Comte Albert De Dion and Bouton built a quadricycle powered by their successful internal combustion engine, which was widely used in 19th-century motorsports. A 1900 model is on display at the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands.

Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler, early pioneers of internal combustion engines, created the Stahlradwagen in 1889, inspiring Armand Peugeot’s designs. Daimler's traced star later became the iconic Mercedes trademark.
