Many drivers brag about their vehicle's top speed, but there is no legal way to reach it on city streets. Nonetheless, some cars are able to fulfill a car fanatic's need for speed based on their ability to accelerate rapidly. Here are twenty-five of the fastest cars around based on their zero-to-sixty miles-per-hour acceleration speed. Although some of them would be better suited to a racetrack, they are all street legal and can be driven on a daily basis.

This unique sports car was built in the United Kingdom and the United States by Mosler Automotive, a company founded in 1985. Only thirty-five MT900 road cars were ever produced, and this impressive vehicle can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. The 7-litre, supercharged V8 engine provides excellent power in a car that weighs just under 1,900 pounds.
